Activities

Oakwood is filled with beautiful homes and gardens, but the residents really make it a special place to live. There are a variety of events and groups available to meet neighbors and socialize with old friends.

Quarterly Gatherings

Once a quarter, the residents gather in one of the local parks for a picnic and fun. Depending on the event, there may be music or other entertainment.

Athletic Club

The "Athletic Club" is a tongue-in-cheek description of a social gathering on the last Sunday evening of each month. The location changes each month with a different resident volunteering to host the event. Each attendee brings a dish to share and their beverage of choice.

Preview Tour

On the Thursday before the Candlelight Tour, a special Preview Tour is available to the residents and their friends. Initially, it was started as a way for the neighbors to view the Candlelight Tour privately. Since then it has evolved into an upscale revolving party at a few homes and includes catered food and beverages. It's the neighborhood event that many look forward to all year long.

Neighborhood Communication

There are a number of methods to hear about whats going on in the neighborhood and to discuss items of interest with neighbors. A newsletter is distributed monthly that provides a variety of articles and news. Additionally, there an email listserve that allows direct interaction between neighbors on a number of topics. Also, a community website is provided for use by all Oakwood residents. It includes neighborhood news and information, an event calendar and forums to discuss a variety of topics.
