Holiday Walking Tour
UPDATE (Oct. 25, 2020) - We have a plan! The tour committee has found a smartphone app to make our holiday walking tour with. It is called Junket and is a free app download for iOS and Android. Once our tour is built and live we will post links to download the app and tour so you may take the walking tour at your leisure anytime December 12th through December 27th. For additional updates as they become available, please follow us on Facebook or sign up for our mailing list.
A Holiday Walking Tour

2020 Tour Canceled
2020 Historic Oakwood Candlelight Tour® Canceled
We regret to inform you that the full 2020 Historic Oakwood Candlelight Tour has been canceled. With the unknown status of COVID-19 this coming December and the full year of planning and recruiting 500 volunteers required to put on the tour, we had little choice.
But fret not! We are planning big things for the 50th Anniversary tour which will be held in 2021 and we are currently brainstorming and planning on some other fun walk-able or drive-able options for you to enjoy Oakwood during the holidays.
Thank you to everyone who has attended and supported the tour and SPHO in the past and we hope to see you for our big 50th Anniversary Tour December 11 & 12, 2021!
Thank You for Another Sold Out Tour
Sold out sign posted at The Tucker House early Saturday of Candlelight Tour weekend.
Thank you to all who attended the 48th Annual Historic Oakwood Candlelight Tour®. 2019 was another sell out year with an amazing mix of properties. Your attendance helps assure the continued work of the SPHO.
The Oakwood Awesomettes entertaining at The Murphey School Apartments
The SPHO cannot make the tour happen without the army of 500 volunteers that greet guests, act as docents inside the homes, check-in ticket holders, clean up the neighborhood, provide classic cars for viewing, market the event and organize everyone. Thank you all.
Unloading gift baskets from the truck.
This year the SPHO, as part of its Community Service Project, also threw a small holiday party for the residents of the Murphey School Apartments (senior living) and provided them with holiday gift baskets. Many tour-goers provided small donations that were added up to be bountiful baskets of non-perishables for the residents as well as some needed items for their common areas. Thank you for your support.
A special thank you goes out to our 2019 sponsors:

Eclectic Magic of Oakwood - WRAL
By Bill Leslie, WRAL

A docent at one of the 12 homes on tour this year said that word fits perfectly.
Oakwood embraces a wide range of ideas, tastes and styles. Our docent went on to say, “We’re all different but we all fit in. We all have a place.”…
